Not too salty but not sweet enough, it doesn’t hit the food court mall bourbon chicken flavor . I’ve seen other recipes that add apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar and ketchup as well . Over all it was fine with the scallions some rice and topped with sesame seeds .

Made this for dinner, but used the sauce measurements for the crockpot version, and doubled them. We like a lot of sauce. I served it with your maple glazed roasted Brussel sprouts and butternut squash and Basmati rice, to keep the flavor profile the same I made your bourbon pecan pie. EVERYONE loved dinner! This is the 2nd time I’ve made this and it is absolutely amazing and so easy to make!

What is Bourbon Street famous for? I can’t seem to remember?
I’m pretty sure there are zero Chinese people named Bourbon.

Do your homework people! It’s named after the Chinese dude who created it while working at a restaurant on Bourbon street in New Orleans

Just made half of this recipe and scratched my head if I accidentally put the double amount of soy sauce in. But I’m confident I put only 1/4 cup with my half pound chicken.

Had to add a lot of sugar and some vinegar near the end of glazing to rescue the dish but even mixed with plain white rice it’s veeerrrry salty.

Of course! Low sodium soy sauce can definitely be used.

Can we use low sodium soy sauce? I didn’t see where salt is supposed to be sprinkled on chicken in these directions. I can see how salty this could be if extra salt is added.

It went straight into the garbage. Couldn’t even thin out the salt with extra cornstarch and water. Sprinkling the chicken first with salt was overkill. Then it floats in pure sodium from the soy sauce. A regretful waste of food.

It was amazing!!! I was a little concerned because of all the comments saying it was too salty. It wasn’t. It was perfect. But then again, I have 19 different kinds of salt in my pantry, maybe I’m immune lol.
