Fantastic and very forgiving recipe! Usually baking is so scientific and precise and not forgiving if there are mistakes made, but that’s not true of this recipe. I overcooked the pastry cream because I looked away too long, and it got thick and kind of clumpy, but it was still delicious and no one knew better. I didn’t have enough of the semi-sweet chocolate for the ganache and had to throw in some bitter chocolate, but it tasted great anyway. The worst mistake that I made was to combine the dry ingredients all at once with the wet ingredients. The recipe doesn’t say to do otherwise, but I should have listened to my instincts and added the dry ingredients in gradually. The cake had little bits of uncooked flour through out, but once the cake was assembled, you couldn’t tell or care because the cake was delicious!
