If you love iced tea, you’re going to be obsessed with this Arnold Palmer. The combo of crisp black tea and tangy lemonade is pure summer magic. It’s simple, refreshing, and always just what you need.

A couple glasses full of cool, crisp refreshing Arnold Palmers.

Why You’ll Be Sipping This All Summer

  • Fresh Lemons = Big Flavor: I use fresh-squeezed lemons instead of store-bought lemonade, which gives a brighter, fresher flavor and tang!
  • So Simple: Just 3 basic ingredients (iced tea, sugar, and lemons) and no fancy equipment. It’s easy enough to make anytime, anywhere.
  • Refreshing: It’s light, snappy, and the kind of drink you’ll want to keep in the fridge all summer long, and sip alongside a meal like fish and chips!

Arnold Palmer Ingredients

Overhead shot of labeled ingredients.
  • Sweeteners: You can use honey, agave, simple syrup, or monk fruit sweetener as a replacement for the sugar if you prefer. If you are using Splenda, use 3/4 cup to replace the 1 1⁄2 cups of sugar.
  • Use Fresh Lemon Juice: Don’t use bottled lemon juice for this Arnold Palmer Drink! It tastes much better with freshly squeezed lemons.
  • Pre-Made Lemonade: You can use store-bought or homemade lemonade. If you do, just mix the tea and lemonade in a 1:1 ratio since premade lemonade has sugar in it already.
  • Tea: I like Pure Leaf unsweetened black tea, but you can cold brew your own by steeping 2–3 tea bags in 3 cups of water overnight. Use more for stronger tea. Caffeinated or decaf both work, and unsweetened lets you control the sweetness.

How to Make an Arnold Palmer

Named after golfer Arnold Palmer, this drink got its name because he ordered the iced tea and lemonade combo so often that fans started asking for “an Arnold Palmer” too. It’s easy to make and only requires 3 ingredients!

  1. Combine: Mix the lemon juice and sugar in a large pitcher, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Enjoy: Pour the unsweetened iced tea into the pitcher, stir well, then pour into a tall glass over ice cubes and serve. Optional garnish with fresh mint leaves and a lemon slice on the rim!

How to Make a Spiked Arnold Palmer

Add 1.5 oz of vodka, bourbon, or sweet tea vodka to your glass before pouring in the tea and lemonade. For a lighter twist, try swapping the black tea with hard iced tea or the lemonade with hard lemonade instead of adding liquor.

How to Store Leftovers

Store the classic Arnold Palmer drink in a pitcher in the fridge for up to 5 days.

The Starbucks Medicine Ball is my go-to whenever I am sick, and this homemade version is even better! This warm drink with lemonade, honey, and tea is soothing and delicious, perfect for cold and flu season!

Overhead shot of copycat Starbucks medicine ball tea in a mug.

Reasons You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Better than Starbucks: I did a blind taste test with the Starbucks Medicine Ball and our recipe, and everyone wanted this one!
  • Soothing and comforting: Perfect for cold or flu season with warm, calming flavors. If you’re suffering from a cold, you’ll want to try my classic chicken noodle soup, too!
  • Budget-friendly: Save some money! Making this at home is much more affordable than getting it at the drive-thru!

What’s in a Medicine Ball?

With this copycat Starbucks medicine ball recipe, you can make this warm drink in under 10 minutes! It will help boost your immune system and get you better in no time! Scroll to the bottom of the post for exact measurements.

  • Lemonade: Adds a bright, tart flavor and provides a dose of Vitamin C.
  • Honey: Provides a natural sweetness and hint of honey flavor. Honey is also good for soothing sore throats and alleviating coughs.
  • Peppermint Tea: This tea has a refreshing taste and is great for clearing out your sinuses.
  • Peach Tea: Gives the drink a delicious fruity taste.
  • Lemon Slices: An extra squeeze of fresh lemon juice will add freshness and a boost of Vitamin C.
Overhead shot of labeled ingredients.

Recipe Instructions

This homemade medicine ball tastes almost just like the one from Starbucks. Theirs has a bit more herbal flavor from chamomile, while mine is slightly fruitier with peach. Here’s how to make this cozy drink in a few easy steps!

  1. Heat the Lemonade: Add the lemonade to a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat for about 4 minutes.
  2. Add Honey: Add the honey to a mug.
  3. Combine: Add the steaming lemonade to the mug and stir to dissolve the honey.
  4. Steep the Tea Bags: Add the tea bags and steep according to the directions on the tea boxes or until the tea is as strong as you prefer. I steeped mine for about 4 minutes. Add fresh lemon slices, if desired.

Medicine Ball Tips and Variations

At my house, this is a flu-season staple! Whenever I feel any cold symptoms coming on, I bust this out. Here are a few helpful tips to make your homemade copycat Starbucks medicine ball tea just the way you like it!

  • Use the Microwave: If you don’t want to get a pot dirty, use the microwave. Heat your individual serving in the microwave for 1-1 ½ minutes or until steaming.
  • Use High-Quality Lemonade: I recommend using the best quality lemonade for the best, most accurate flavor.
  • Alternative to Lemonade: Instead of lemonade, you can opt for water and ¼-⅓ cup of fresh lemon juice. This will be a good option for those looking for less sugar.
  • Use Peppermint Tea: Stick with peppermint tea. Mint tea usually has a blend of peppermint, spearmint, and wintergreen. Peppermint by itself will be the most accurate in flavor.

Make it Fresh!

This copycat Starbucks medicine ball tea doesn’t store well, so I suggest making this tea and enjoying it fresh! Plus, this is a single-serving recipe, so you don’t have to worry about making a lot and not using up all of the tea!

Mulled cider is a warm, inviting drink that is mixed with citrus and spices. Take your apple cider game up a notch with this easy recipe. Your house will smell amazing as well!

Overhead shot of mulled cider with apple slices, cinnamon sticks cloves and allspice berries in a pot.

Reasons You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Holiday Season: Your house will smell like Christmas, warm and inviting, when you make this drink. It tastes like Christmas too!
  • Customizable: This recipe allows you to play around with the ingredients. Add lemon, fresh ginger, or nutmeg, add more or less of something. Have fun and make it your own.
  • Easy to Make: Throw everything into a pot and let it simmer! It’s similar to Wassail and my crock pot apple cider.

Ingredients You Need to Make Mulled Cider

This recipe has a few simple ingredients, but you might have to run to the store for. I don’t always have whole cinnamon sticksallspice berries, and cloves, but they are worth the effort to be able to have the best drink, and your house smell amazing!

  • Apple Cider: The majority of this beverage is apple cider. You make it special with the other ingredients.
  • Dark Brown Sugar: Adds a depth of sweetness.
  • Cinnamon Sticks: My favorite part! These cinnamon sticks add the best flavor and make my house smell amazing!
  • Whole Cloves: Ok, cloves make my house smell amazing as well, and add that kick of spice.
  • Allspice Berries: This is the secret ingredient to making your mulled cider better and more unique than anyone else’s.
  • Orange Peel: The citrus from an orange peel just gives off Christmas vibes.
Overhead shot of labeled ingredients.

Instructions

  1. Combine and Simmer: Add the apple cider, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and orange peel to a large pot. Bring just barely to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove the spices and orange peel before serving hot.
Overhead shot of ingredients in the pot while someone pours apple cider over the top.

Hot Mulled Cider Tips and Variations

The great thing about this recipe is how easy it is to play with the ingredients. Use what you have on hand, or change things up to suit your tastes.

  • Apple Cider or Juice: Use your favorite apple cider! You can use filtered or unfiltered cider, or if you prefer you can even substitute apple juice in for the cider.
  • Flavor: Simmering the mulled cider over low heat allows the cider to reduce and intensify in flavor!
  • Additions: Add in the peel of a lemon and ½ cup of fresh cranberries to brighten up the flavor.
  • Slow Cooker: Combine all the ingredients in the slow cooker and cook on low for 3 hours before serving.
  • Adult Version: Make it an adult drink by adding in some spiced rum or bourbon to make it spiked cider. You will need about ½ ounce per cup of cider, though that amount can be adjusted to your taste.
Overhead shot of mulled cider.

How to Properly Store and Reheat Mulled Apple Cider

  • Storing and Reheating: Mulled cider should have the orange peel and spices removed before storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can reheat it on the stovetop over low heat, or you can heat individual mugs in the microwave.
  • Fresh Garnish: If you plan to garnish your mulled cider with apple slices or orange slices, I recommend using fresh ones rather than the ones that have been simmered in the cider as those become dull and will sink to the bottom of the beverage.

This Harry Potter Pumpkin Juice will transport you on a magical ride on the Hogwarts Express or to eat lunch with your friends in the Great Hall. Bursting with warm, cozy fall flavor, you will love feeling part of the wizarding world of Harry Potter with this magical drink.

Reasons You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Simple and Easy to Make: This recipe only uses six ingredients and comes together with very little effort. If it was a potion, you could whip this up easily without needing the Half Blood Prince!
  • Festive Fall Drink: Serve this at all your fall parties or anytime you’re in the mood for that wonderful pumpkin flavor!
  • It’s a Harry Potter Classic: Fans of Harry Potter will love this magical drink! Serve butterbeer & candy apples next time you have a Harry Potter movie marathon!

What’s in Pumpkin Juice?

You only need six simple ingredients to make this Harry Potter pumpkin juice! It’s so simple, yet it tastes so good and will have everyone raving! For all measurements, check out the recipe card below.

  • Pumpkin: Use canned pumpkin puree or try making homemade pumpkin puree.
  • Water: This will cook with the pumpkin and sugar to create a sweetened pumpkin liquid.
  • Granulated Sugar: For the perfect sweetness.
  • Pumpkin Spice: Enhances the overall flavor with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice. You can use store-bought or try my homemade pumpkin spice recipe.
  • Apple Juice: Adds extra flavor that complements the pumpkin puree and spices while giving it just the right consistency.
  • Vanilla Extract: Boosts the warm, sweet taste.
Overhead shot of labeled ingredients.

How to Make Pumpkin Juice

Making this Harry Potter pumpkin juice recipe could not be easier! You can use a juicer, which is convenient but unnecessary. Follow my instructions below, and you’ll be immersed in the magical world and feel like you are best friends with Harry, Hermione, and Ron!

  1. Make Pumpkin Mixture: Combine the pumpkin puree, water, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice in a medium saucepan.
  2. Cook: Cook over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Let the pumpkin mixture cool while you prepare your straining station.
  3. Strain: Place 2-3 layers of cheesecloth inside a fine mesh strainer, leaving plenty of overhang. Place the strainer on top of a bowl or measuring cup to catch the strained liquid. Once cooled, add ¼-⅓ of the pumpkin mixture to the straining station. Use a large metal spoon to stir the pumpkin, pressing it into the cheesecloth until as much liquid as possible is strained into the vessel below.
  4. Discard Pulp: Alternatively, you can gently squeeze the portions of pumpkin in the cheesecloth, being careful not to squeeze too hard. You want the transparent liquid to come out of the pumpkin, not any of the actual pumpkin pulp. Discard any remaining pulp before moving on to the next portion of pumpkin mixture.
  5. Liquid Amount: You should end up with about 1 ½ cups of liquid.
  6. Simmer with Apple Juice to Reduce: Wash out the saucepan before adding the strained pumpkin liquid back in. Add the apple juice and vanilla and simmer over low heat until reduced to 4 cups, about 10 minutes. Pour the juice into a storage bottle and let it cool to room temperature before refrigerating. Serve chilled over ice or hot.

Harry Potter Pumpkin Juice Tips and Tricks

Even though this recipe is super simple to make, here are some tips and magic tricks to customize it so it’s perfect!

  • Homemade Pumpkin Puree: You can use homemade pumpkin puree instead of canned! You may end up with a little more pumpkin liquid, depending on the water content of the pumpkin. To concentrate the pumpkin flavor a little more, boil the liquid on the stove for an extra 5 minutes. Then add the apple juice in step 4
  • Straining: The key to getting transparent pumpkin liquid is to work in smaller batches when straining the pumpkin mixture. Overloading the strainer makes it harder to mash the pumpkin without forcing the pulp through.
  • Use a Juicer: If you have a juicer, you can run the pumpkin mixture through it to get the pumpkin liquid. It will be like you used a magic wand!
  • Sweeten: To change the flavor, you can swap the granulated sugar for brown sugar or real maple syrup.
  • Reduce the Sugar: The amount of sugar can be reduced, but I recommend adding ¼-½ cups of water to the pumpkin mixture to replace the liquid that would come from the sugar.
  • Fresh Ginger: Spice things up by adding some sliced or grated fresh ginger to the pumpkin mixture as it simmers. This will keep that pumpkin spice flavor while kicking up the heat a notch!
Close up shot of pumpkin juice in a glass cup.

Storing Leftovers Pumpkin Juice

I would make a big batch of this juice to last through all of my Harry Potter movie watching. Here is the best way to store it.

  • In the Refrigerator: Store leftover pumpkin juice in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
  • In the Freezer: Alternatively, freeze pumpkin juice for up to 3 months.
  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the pumpkin liquid ahead of time, but it will only stay fresh in the fridge for up to 7 days. Be sure to either enjoy your pumpkin juice within that time or freeze the liquid until you’re ready to use it.

This is the absolute BEST fresh peach lemonade recipe! Sweet juicy peaches combined with tart, tangy lemons make the most refreshing drink. You will want to have a pitcher of this in your fridge throughout the peach season!

Peaches are my favorite fruit, and it’s hard for me to wait until fall to get the best fresh peaches! When I do, I load up and make all the peach recipes! My favorites besides this lemonade include this homemade peach pie, my fresh peach smoothie, and my favorite peach salsa.

Side shot of mason jar with fresh peach lemonade with sprig of mint and garnished with a wedge of lemon.

Reasons You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Perfect for peach season: This simple but refreshing drink is the perfect way to use those fresh peaches during peach season. If you have canned or frozen peaches, you could make it year-round.
  • Simple: This recipe is easy to make and takes less than 20 minutes.
  • Versatile: This lemonade isn’t just for drinking! You could add it to cocktails, use it as a smoothie base, or freeze it into popsicles for a fun twist.

Fresh Peach Lemonade Recipe Ingredients

Fresh peach lemonade combines sweet peaches and tart lemons for a perfectly balanced drink that’s incredibly refreshing. Scroll to the recipe card for exact measurements.

  • Fresh Peaches: Peaches are the perfect juicy fruit for this lemonade’s base. Their sweetness balances out the lemons’ tartness.
  • Granulated Sugar: Adds sweetness and brings out the flavor of the peaches and lemons.

How to Make Peach Lemonade

Making fresh, homemade peach lemonade takes less than 20 minutes and is 100% worth it! The fresh peaches and tart lemons combine for a perfect marriage of summer sweetness.

  1. Prep: Wash the peaches and remove the pits. You can peel the skin, but I like leaving it on for this syrup. Then dice the peaches.
  2. Simmer: Add the peaches, sugar, and ½ cup of water to a saucepan and cook over medium. Cook the peaches for about 7-8 minutes, or until they are soft and syrupy and the sugar has dissolved and is bubbling.
  3. Puree: Remove the pan from the heat and very carefully pour the peach mixture into a blender or a food processor. Place the lid on and cover it with a clean kitchen towel before blending until it is smooth. You can strain out the solids if you would like by using a spoon or spatula to press the syrup through a fine mesh strainer. Cover the syrup and let it cool to room temperature, or chill it in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.
  4. Serve: When you are ready to serve the lemonade, combine the peach syrup, lemon juice, 4 cups of cold water, and ice in a pitcher. Stir to combine. If desired, add slices of lemons and peaches for garnish.

Perfect Peach Lemonade Tips

I want this to be the best peach lemonade you’ve ever had! To do that please follow these tips and variations to have it turn out just the way you like it!

  • Quick Ripenning Hack: Ripen your peaches quicker by placing them stem-side down inside a paper bag and closing it. Check them in a day or two. The trapped ethylene gas will speed up the ripening!
  • Substitutions: You may substitute half the diced peaches for strawberries or raspberries to make peach-strawberry or raspberry syrup.
  • Sweetness Scale: If you find your lemonade a bit too sweet or your peaches are especially ripe, you might want to cut back on the sugar to just ½–¾ cup instead of the full cup. This adjustment allows you to customize the sweetness to your preference.
  • Frozen or Canned Substitutes: You may replace the fresh peaches with 10-ounces of canned or frozen peaches if you want to make this and fresh peaches are unavailable.
  • Under-Ripe Peaches: You can still use under-ripe peaches for this recipe. Cooking the peaches for the syrup will help bring out the sweetness. If the flesh won’t release from the pit, cut around the pit as well as you can before dicing it up and adding it to the saucepan.
  • Fresh Lemons: Use fresh lemons! Fresh lemons will make a world of difference in flavor for lemonade.
  • Adult Drink: Add a little rum, vodka or bourbon to make this a refreshing adult drink!
  • Flavor Variations: To give it a different flavor, you can add fresh mint, rosemary, berries, ginger, basil or vanilla.
Side shot of pitcher of lemonade with someone stirring with a wooden spoon.

Leftover Lemonade Instructions

You will love having this peach lemonade in your fridge to pull out when you are in the mood for something sweet and refreshing.

  • Make in Advance: The peach syrup can be made up to a week in advance. Keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freeze in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.
  • Fridge: Once the lemonade has been mixed, it can be kept for 5 to 7 days in the refrigerator.

This bright sherbet punch is perfect for serving on any occasion! It has just the right balance of sweetness, zest, and refreshing coolness and you won’t be able to resist having a second glass.

I am a huge fan of delicious drink concoctions. They make me feel like I am in a tropical paradise, sipping on something the cabana boy just served me. This lava flow drink, peach smoothie, and Dole pineapple whip are perfect for quenching your thirst and bringing a touch of the tropics to your day!

Reasons to Make Sherbet Punch

  • Simple Ingredients: With only four main ingredients (plus garnish), this recipe is easy to shop for and prepare.
  • Refreshing and Delicious: The blend of lemon-lime soda, pineapple juice, and Hawaiian punch with creamy rainbow sherbet creates a uniquely sweet and tangy flavor that’s perfect for hot days.
  • Party Favorite: This punch is perfect for parties, family gatherings, or any social event where you want to serve a crowd-pleasing drink.

What is Rainbow Sherbet Punch?

Sherbet punch is like that nostalgic drink you loved as a kid at family gatherings. I remember marveling at its incredible taste and creamy smoothness. Similar to a root beer float, it combines ice cream with a fizzy drink, creating a refreshing treat.

Ingredients in Sherbet Punch

This sherbet punch recipe comes together quickly and easily with only four already-made ingredients and zero prep time. You can have it ready in no time! Scroll down to see the recipe card at the bottom of this post for exact measurements.

  • Sprite: Soda adds fun fizziness and bright citrus flavor.
  • Pineapple Juice:  Pineapple juice adds an acidity that balances out the sweetness.
  • Hawaiian Punch: This fruit punch provides a rich sweetness with tropical flair.
  • Rainbow Sherbet: This is what makes the punch so delicious and creamy!
  • Pineapple Slices: I love using fresh fruit as a garnish. It not only adds flavor but a gorgeous pop of color to the punch as well!
Overhead shot of ingredient items and labels.

How Do You Make Sherbet Punch?

This punch only uses 4 ingredients and comes together so quickly. It is easy to make and feeds a crowd!

  1. Combine: Add the Sprite, pineapple juice, and Hawaiian punch to a large punch bowl, pitcher, or drink dispenser and stir to combine.
  2. Add: Scoop the sherbet on top of the punch.
  3. Garnish: As an option, you can garnish with fresh pineapple slices.
  4. Serve: I recommend you make this right before serving so that it stays chilled.

Homemade Sherbet Substitutions

This drink is so delicious as is, but if you want to change up the flavors (or make it for adults only!) then here are some ideas for you:

  • Change up your drink flavor: You can substitute the Sprite for any other lemon-lime soda, ginger ale, Mountain Dew, or Fresca. For a special twist, look for holiday flavors, like cranberry soda.
  • Change up the sherbet flavor: Although rainbow sherbet is my favorite, you can use other sherbet for this recipe. You could try strawberry, pineapple, lemon, lime sherbet or any other flavor that catches your eye.
  • Make it for Adults: You can make this a boozy adult punch by adding 1-2 cups of vodka or a bottle of champagne or Prosecco.
This is a picture of someone holding an ice cream scoop filled with rainbow sherbet over a large bowl filled with the drink and other dollops of rainbow sherbet.

Tips for Making Sherbet Punch

The best part about this Sherbet Punch recipe is that you can personalize it to suit your preferences.

  • Chill Ahead of Time: Ensure the juices are chilled ahead of time! If you refrigerate your lemon-lime soda, pineapple juice, and Hawaiian punch overnight, they’ll be perfectly cold when you assemble the punch.
  • Garnish your punch with slices of fresh pineapple, citrus, or berries!
  • Make it Sweeter: The juice ratios in this recipe can be adjusted to your liking. As the sherbet melts the punch tends to become much more sweet. You can add more of any of the juices to balance things out as the sherbet melts.
  • Soften Sherbet: Set your sherbet out on the counter for 10 minutes before scooping it into the punch. It will make it easier to scoop the sherbet and result in foam forming on the punch quicker.
  • What do I serve sorbet punch in?: It’s great served in a punch bowl, but it can be served in a pitcher or a drink dispenser!
Side view of a large bowl filled with bright red punch that is topped with rainbow sherbet that has foam and big chunks of the sherbet.

Making Ahead and Storing Leftovers

Since this sherbet punch comes together so quickly, I recommend making it right before serving, but if you need to do some prep work, the information for that is below.

  • Can I Make Sherbet Punch Ahead? You can mix the pineapple juice and Hawaiian punch 2-3 days in advance and keep it chilled in the refrigerator, but adding the soda ahead of time will leave you with flat punch as the carbonation will dissipate. It’s best to add the soda and sherbet just before you serve this drink.
  • In the Refrigerator: You can save leftover punch in a pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, but the sherbet will be melted and the soda will go flat.

Elevate the flavors of traditional horchata with this strawberry horchata recipe! It’s a creamy drink soaked in rice water and cinnamon sticks, then sweetened with a strawberry puree. Everyone loves the strawberry version of this rich, milky Mexican drink!

Any time the weather gets warmer, I love to break out all of the refreshing drink recipes! Some of my favorites are Brazilian lemonade, a mango lassi, or a mint julep

Close view of a glass of strawberry horchata with a pitcher behind it.

What is Strawberry Horchata?

Horchata is a popular Mexican drink known as a sweetened rice milk and this strawberry horchata version is even better! It starts with a blended combination of rice, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon sticks then mixes with a sweet strawberry puree. Then comes the addition of sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk. It adds the perfect sweetness and creaminess to the drink! I love balancing out the creamy cinnamon sweetness by adding a fresh strawberry puree makes this horchata irresistible.

It’s super creamy, refreshing, and filled with sweet strawberry flavor. The fresh strawberry flavor adds the perfect touch. In fact, strawberries are the perfect touch in a lot of my favorite recipes. Try this tasty salad, this easy cake, or the best strawberry banana bread!

Ingredients You’ll Need

This homemade strawberry horchata uses simple ingredients that you get at the grocery store. It is a true authentic Mexican treat and a perfect refreshing drink for a warm day.

  • Cinnamon Sticks: Find these at your local grocery store in the spice section.
  • Vanilla: This is the best flavor combination with vanilla.
  • Rice: Long-grained white rice is best.
  • Hot Water: It is best to use hot water. After soaking in the rice it becomes a creamy milk rice.
  • Sugar: Add in more sugar to sweeten or less if it is too sweet.
  • Strawberries: The star of this drink! Use fresh strawberries and save some to garnish when serving.
  • Lemon Juice: The acidity balances out the sweetness and brightens the flavors in the strawberry puree.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: The creamy sweetness this adds to the strawberry horchata is a must!
  • Evaporated Milk: Adds richness and creaminess to the horchata.
  • Ice: Horchata is served with ice so that it is nice and cold!
Ingredients labeled to make strawberry horchata.

How to Make Strawberry Horchata

Homemade strawberry horchata is time-consuming but only because of the time it needs to soak. The rest of the recipe is very easy and I walk you through all the steps! Plan ahead of time to make this refreshing beverage. It’s worth it!

  1. Soak: Break the cinnamon sticks into pieces and the cinnamon, vanilla, rice, and hot water to a container or bowl and stir until combined. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours to soak the rice.
  2. Blend the Strawberry Mixture: Prepare a strawberry sauce by adding the strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a container, cover, then refrigerate until you are ready to finish preparing the horchata.
  3. Blend and Strain the Rice Mixture: After the rice mixture has soaked for at least 6 hours, add it to a blender and blend for 2-3 minutes on high speed. Strain through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth or a coffee filter into a large pitcher, but discard all of the solids.
  4. Add in the Both Kinds of Milk and Strawberry Puree: Add in the sweetened condensed milk, and evaporated milk. Stir in the strawberry puree.
  5. Serve: Taste and adjust to your preferences by adding cold water, a little more sugar, or milk. When it tastes the way you like, fill the rest of the pitcher with ice and fresh strawberries. Serve immediately.

Strawberry Horchata Tips

Here are some extra tips below to make your strawberry horchata a success! Everyone loves horchata and the added strawberry flavor is a crowd-pleaser.

  • Use Frozen Strawberries: You can use frozen strawberries to make your puree! Thaw them completely before blending them with the remaining ingredients. This will allow you to make delicious strawberry horchata when strawberries are out of season.
  • Dairy-Free Option: You can make this a completely dairy-free recipe by using dairy-free sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk.
  • Rinse the Rice: Sometimes horchata can be a little too chalky for some people. To lessen the chalkiness, rinse the rice under cold water until the water is clear before using it in the recipe.

Storing Leftovers

Strawberry horchata can be a little time-consuming, that’s why it’s great to make ahead of time. It’s a labor of love, but so worth every sweet sip!

  • In the Refrigerator: Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Make in Advance: The strawberry puree may be made a day in advance and kept chilled in the refrigerator for 1 week. You can also freeze the puree in the freezer for up to 3 months. Move it to the refrigerator to thaw before using.
  • In the Freezer: Store in an airtight container or Ziplock bag for up to 1 month. Move it to the refrigerator to thaw. It can take up to 24 hours to completely thaw.

As soon as you feel a cold coming on, make yourself a Hot Toddy! This warm and comforting beverage is made of brewed tea with honey, lemon, and cozy spices stirred in. Although traditionally made with dark liquor, this recipe is non-alcoholic so the whole family can enjoy it!

It has been so cold lately, hot drinks have been the only thing getting me through this winter! Here are a few more of my favorite recipes that you should try next: wassail, Mexican hot chocolate, and Crockpot apple cider!

Hot Toddy Recipe

It’s cold out there! Winter finally hit Utah full-force, so I’ve been looking for ways to stay warm. Honestly, hot toddys are so underrated. If you’ve never had one before, it’s a cozy mix of brewed tea, honey, lemon, and spices. Aaand you’re going to want one in hand all winter long.

This hot toddy recipe is ideal for when you’re feeling under the weather. (Or just craving some wintery comfort!) And get this – it’s totally alcohol-free! So even kiddos can get in on the cozy action. But don’t worry, grown-ups, I got you covered. Scroll down for some liquor add-ins if you’re wanting to spice things up.

Ingredients in a Hot Toddy

Got the winter blues? This hot toddy recipe is here to warm your soul and maybe even soothe that tickle in your throat. It’s packed with immune-boosting goodness and winter flavors, and is completely alcohol-free! So grab your favorite mug and let’s dive into the delicious details:

  • Black Tea: The base of the drink, black tea adds a kick of caffeine and comforting warmth. Choose your favorite – Chai, Earl Grey, English Breakfast for classic strength, or any other brew that tickles your fancy. You can also use herbal tea if you want something caffeine-free.
  • Honey: Nature’s sweet soother, honey coats your throat and gives your immune system a little TLC. Plus, it also adds a touch of sweetness that complements the spice blend beautifully.
  • Lemon Juice: A burst of vitamin C and a zesty counterpoint to the honey, fresh lemon juice cuts through the richness and wakes up your taste buds. Squeeze your own for maximum freshness, or if you’re feeling lazy, store-bought works just fine.
  • Spices: Cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon create the best wintery flavor in your mug. They not only taste amazing, but help to boost your immune system and clear up your sinuses.

How to Make It

It’s so easy, and takes less than 5 minutes to mix up. Whenever you get a scratchy throat or feel under the weather, make yourself a hot toddy!

  1. Combine Ingredients: Stir the honey, lemon juice, and spices into the hot tea.
  2. Serve: Serve with a slice of lemon, cinnamon stick, and whole star anise.

Tips and Variations

Hot toddies are super easy to make, but there are a few ways to make them even better. Use these tips to upgrade yours!

  • Strain: If you don’t like the grittiness of the spices, let the tea steep with the spices for 5 minutes before straining through a fine mesh sieve. Reheat if needed.
  • Different Types of Tea: I used chai tea, but any black tea would be great with this recipe. For an alternative without caffeine or black tea, use chamomile or Bengal Spice tea.
  • Fresh lemon juice is a must! Don’t use the bottled stuff, that has additives to make it shelf stable that will make the Toddy taste off.
  • Adding Alcohol: For an alcoholic kick, add 1 ½ ounces of dark liquor, such as brandy, rum, bourbon, whiskey, scotch, or cognac.

How Long Will a Hot Toddy Last?

Hot toddys are best made fresh. Discard any leftovers and make a fresh cup when you’re ready for another!
