If you leave baking soda out of the pancake batter, your pancakes will be denser, flatter, and less fluffy. They will still taste great, but the baking soda helps create the fluffy pancake texture!

hello Alyssa, when I was in middle school they actually had a cooking classroom named daily cafe like breakfast and lunch and I remember during breakfast they used to have pancake mi and I get to make pancake with it and it was my favorite part and everybody loved it, it was a long time but I realize I can homemade buttermilk made from scratch and taste even more better than a store brought kind so I remake it for myself and it Turing out perfect and I also made buttermilk syrup with this recipe to go along with it, and it was out of the world so thank you so much with this recipe. 🙂

Hi Jim, I would try adding 2 cups of buttermilk, and see if the consistency is what you would expect. I agree that three cups seems like a lot. I will make this soon and see what I think. Thanks for letting me know!

I made the Martha Stewart recipe and the recipe said it made 9 pancakes. I followed the recipe exactly except I think my pancakes were 5 inches instead of 6 inches The recipe made 19 pancakes They are delicious but with just the two of us, I froze a lot. Had I know it would result in 19 pancakes I would have halved the recipe. I would have given this 5 stars if the quantity was correct.

My husband loves these pancakes.
They are thinner, like a sweedish
pancake. He hates thick ones.
I add a teaspoon of vanilla.
My go to recipe. Delicious
