Cole, I’m sorry about the confusion. You are right, it is unsalted butter. I went ahead and got that fixed!

Question – are you supposed to use UNSALTED or SALTED butter? Assuming unsalted since that’s usually the default for baking recipes but I just want to point out that the recipe says “unsalted salted butter” in both the instructions & ingredient list so you might want to update that haha!

These were delicious. Not sure why people would have to be rude and give a poor rating for the author forgetting to edit when to add the vanilla (on original recipe, it has since been corrected by the author on the recipe now). If you do any baking at all you know vanilla is added to baked goods after you cream the sugar and around the time you add the eggs. Really adding it at any mixing point should be fine. I followed the recipe as written, but used dark cocoa powder as that is what I had on hand. I also used overripe bananas that had been frozen, and then thawed in the microwave. These bars are just like a rich chocolatey brownie and a banana bread had a baby. Delicious. Will make again.

I’m sorry the recipe didn’t work out for you. The vanilla is supposed to be added to the butter and sugar mixture. Thanks for pointing that out, I will update the instructions!

Has to guess when/where to add in the vanilla. Pulled it out of the oven at 45 minutes and allowed to cool. We to cut it an hour later and it was raw.

I would try using fresh, overripe bananas instead!

I have a question about this recipe. It tastes amazing! But how did you get the banana batter to come out that golden color? I’ve had two versions of this recipe, one that I made and one a friend made, and both times, the banana batter looked fine going in, looking like a different color with a nice swirl to it, but after it came out of the oven, it all looked brown. No color difference between the two batters.

Is it because we used old frozen bananas?

I don’t specialize in vegan recipes and would hate to give the wrong information. I have not made this recipe any other way.
