Made this tonight for supper. I omitted the sausage & the salt & pepper & added 2 cups of cottage cheese to the middle layer. I will be making this again, possibly even as a freezer meal.

My family thought it needed more flavor. Maybe fennel, or spicy Italian sausage. I felt the pasta was too much; maybe half pound or 3/4 pound at most.
