I’m so sorry this recipe didn’t turn out for you — that’s always frustrating, especially when you’ve spent time and ingredients on it. I haven’t had an issue with it overflowing, but oven temperatures and pan sizes can definitely make a difference. Sweet breads do tend to bake for quite a while, and if your oven runs a little cool, that might have caused it to stay underbaked and spill over.
If you’d like to try it again, you could split the batter into two 9×5 pans, or even make it as muffins instead (another reader mentioned that works well). Muffins would likely bake in about 30–35 minutes, though I haven’t tested that version myself.

This recipe for me was a complete failure. A waste of my ingredients and time. Directions should state to place in two 9×5 pans. Never could get done and was a complete mess that overflowed. Maybe I missed something in the directions.

I’ve made this recipe a few times and it always comes out amazing. I do make a few changes: 1) I use 3 cups apples, 2) Instead of bread I make 18 muffins- 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes

I made this apple bread today and I’m delighted with how quick and easy it was to assemble. The results were delicious and my husband was very happy to discover this cake waiting for him with a cup of tea when he came in from the garden. Thanks for creating this yummy recipe

Maybe 1:1, or 1.5 white to .5 brown? This recipe just seems like brown sugar would elevate it?
